課程概述

本課程包括三部分:

一、同學至NTU COOL系統觀看影片,其內容涵蓋以下基礎公共衛生主題:

1. Core functions and essential services of public health
2. Globalization and global burden of diseases
3. Public health history, philosophy, and values
4. Prevention science in population health
5. Biological and genetic factors and population health
6. Quantitative methods and sciences in public health
7. Evidence-based public health
8. Environmental factors and population health
9. Major causes and trends of morbidity and mortality in Taiwan
10. Behavioral and psychological factors and population health (including qualitative methods in assessment)
11. Social, political and economic determinants of population health and health inequities
12. Ecological system and health: Planet Health

二、邀請各領域實務專家至課堂進行實務演講。

Invite field practical experts for lecture and discussion in three major areas.

三、同學進行期末分組報告,要從課程中選擇一個主題,進行專題報告,從理論的切入結合實務的應用,提出相關的本土建議與評論。

Students are grouped for final report. Each group needs to pick one topic for advanced report for application and\or local linkage with advice and comments.

本所在職專班同學修完課程後,能了解公共衛生的12項基本公共衛生知識

1. 解釋公共衛生的歷史、哲學與價值
2. 指明公共衛生的核心功能與10種必須的服務
3. 解釋量性與質性方法與科學以描述和評估人群健康
4. 列出主要疾病與死亡的主要原因和趨勢 或其他與學校或計畫相關的社區
5. 討論人群健康初級次級和三級預防的科學,包含健康促進和篩檢等
6. 解釋推進公共衛生知識證據之關鍵重要性
7. 解釋環境因子對於人群健康的影響
8. 解釋影響人群健康的生物和基因因子
9. 解釋影響人群健康的行為和心理因子
10. 解釋社會政治經濟的健康決定因子以及他們如何貢獻於人群健康與健康
不平等
11. 解釋全球化如何影響全球的疾病負擔
12. 解釋生態觀點如何聯結到人類健康、動物健康與生態系統健康 (整體健
康)

The goal of this course is to help EMHA students to understand 12 foundational Public Health Knowledge. They are listed below:
1. Explain public health history, philosophy and values
2. Identify the core functions of public health and the 10 Essential Services listed by US CDC
3. Explain the role of quantitative methods and sciences in describing and assessing a population’s health
4. List major causes and trends of morbidity and mortality in Taiwan
5. Discuss the science of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention in population health, including health promotion, screening, etc.
6. Explain the critical importance of evidence in advancing public health knowledge
7. Explain effects of environmental factors on a population’s health
8. Explain biological and genetic factors that affect a population’s health
9. Explain behavioral and psychological factors that affect a population’s health, as well as the role of quantitative methods and sciences in describing and assessing a population’s health
10. Explain the social, political and economic determinants of health and how they contribute to population health and health inequities
11. Explain how globalization affects global burdens of disease
12. Explain an ecological perspective on the connections among human health, animal health and ecosystem health (e.g., One Health) 
課程要求
1.同學單週需至NTU cool系統觀看至少6次演講影片,並選擇其中3次,分別繳交心得1-2頁的觀看心得,必須涵蓋預醫生統流病、健管行社、環職衛生與食品等三大領域學群的內容,至少各1次。

Each student, in single week, needs to go to NTU COOL for vedio watching of 6 topics and submits 3 homework of learning experience, each for 1-2 pages. Those topics should cover three major areas of biostatistics, epidemiology and preventive medicine(BEP); health policy and management and behavior health and community science(HPMBH), environmental and occupational health, and food safety(EOHF).

2.雙週的實體課程部份,也要撰寫至少3篇課後心得(涵蓋預醫生統流病、健管行社、環職衛生與食品等三大領域學群的內容,至少各1次)。

Each student, in double weeks, has to write three homework of learning lessons from practical field lectures .each for 1-2 pages. Those topics should cover three major areas of biostatistics, epidemiology and preventive medicine(BEP); health policy and management and behavior health and community science(HPMBH), environmental and occupational health, and food safety(EOHF).
